25 Weeks Glimpse at Josh

At my first appointment at MSH, I signed up for the Fetal Heart Monitor Study, as part of the control group. This study monitors the heart of the mother, and the cardiac development of the fetus and infant to detect abnormalities between mothers with heart disease, and those that don't. The study involves an initial echocardiogram (to ensure that my heart is normal and that I do indeed belong in the control group), the 19/20 week anatomy and placenta scan, and then follow up after the baby is born. When I went in for my anatomy scan, they forgot to do the placenta scan, so I went in again today to have it done.

My placenta is measuring normally, and so is the blood flow in and out. Amniotic fluid levels are normal, and Josh is measuring at the 75th percentile currently. He is currently in the breech position, with his head towards my right side (which is what I thought since I can only feel kicks down, up, and on the left side). The amazing part though, is that today, for the first time, I got a full view of his face. At our previous two ultrasounds, he was always in profile. But today, I saw all his little features!!! I saw the shape of his eyes, his nose, and his little lips. It was almost as clear as a 3D ultrasound! He looks like his Daddy, so hopefully, he'll be a cute little chubby baby. :)
